Guidelines

  • Please ensure your profile details are complete and up to date (especially your contact details). Sometimes we only invite people based on specific criteria e.g. people in a specific occupation or only people with children so it is important to your profile details are accurate and current.
  • When you complete the online screener to apply for a project, please answer honestly. Sometimes in a bid to be selected people try to guess what we’re after e.g. they might select that they buy every brand of coffee, every week. This is fairly apparent to us when we’re sorting the responses. It’s important to remember we are often looking for non-users of a specific product or brand too. Honesty is the best policy!
  • Please select all the session dates and time you are available to attend. We try to match people to the sessions they want but sometimes this is out of our control so the more available you are the more likely we will be able to invite you to take part. However, please don’t select sessions you would be unable to attend.
  • Once you have applied for a project you will receive a message to thank you and to let you know we’ll be in touch. Please note that applying for a project does not mean you will automatically be selected to attend a session. We use your answers to the screener to determine whether you match the requirements our client will have set for the project. If your answers match what we’re looking for we will call you to check your answers and your availability, before inviting you to take part. If you receive a voicemail from us, please do call back as soon as possible, we are often working to strict deadlines to fill all the spaces. If you leave it a day or two before replying then you might miss out.
  • Should your answers to the screening questions not match the eligibility criteria we will email you to let you know as soon as we can. Please note it is not always possible to do this straightaway, sometimes we liaise with our clients to see if there is any criteria which can be relaxed.
  • Once we have booked all the participants and the sessions are full, if you have not been selected you will receive an email to let you know. However, if anyone cancels and a space suddenly becomes available, please note we may still call you (even as late as on the day of the session) to check if you are still available to take part.
  • If you are selected to take part in a session and you then find you are unable to attend, please do let us know as soon as possible. For every one of our projects we have a specific number of participants to find, so the sooner you let us know the more chance we have of finding someone to replace you.
  • If you are not selected to take part in a session, please don’t let this put you off applying for others. We know it can be disheartening but each project will have a different eligibility criteria, so just because you don’t fit for one project does not mean you will not be eligible for another.
  • We may call or email you about a project you have not applied for if we think it’s something which you might be suitable for.
  • Please be punctual if you are selected to attend a session. It is usual practice to aim to arrive 15 minutes before the session start time.
  • When you attend a session please ensure you are polite and courteous and behave in a professional manner whilst at the venue and during the session. Although the sessions are generally informal, the Researcher has an important job to do in a limited timeframe. Often the sessions are viewed from another room by representatives from the Client’s office. Inappropriate behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated and could directly affect payment of any incentive payments.
  • During the session, you will be asked for your opinion and feedback on certain products, sites, apps or services. Please do give your opinion freely - after all, that is why you’re there. If you feel you would be too anxious or nervous to be able to answer questions face to face about products/services etc in an open way, then attending a market research session may not be for you. Perhaps instead you could look out for our online communities.
  • You may be invited to an event which doesn’t appeal to you or where you don’t fit the published criteria. If this happens, it’s fine for you to just ignore the invite. However, if you know anyone who might fit the criteria please do pass it on for them to apply instead. Often we offer referral payments for projects which we are struggling to fill.
